Hey,

I’m wanting to take my girlfriend away for a romantic weekend (it’s a surprise!) She can walk, but not very far, and gets tired easily so sometimes needs to use crutches or a wheelchair.  Is there anywhere you can recommend that’s accessible and fun?

Thanks

Hi! Thanks so much for writing in to us.

She’s a lucky girl! What a great idea! There’s two places that immediately spring to mind:

  1. Barcelona is widely known as one of the most accessible cities in the world and is FULL of things to do and places to see. Depending on your girlfriend’s requirements, there’s even fully accessible apartments like MICs Sant Jordi, and the underground system is fully accessible too, meaning you won’t have to walk too far! There’s nowhere I’d recommend quite as highly for an accessible city break.
  2. If you’re hoping for rest, relaxation and romance, why not try Essaouira in Morocco? This seaside, surfy town is small, friendly and artsy (think the Brighton of Morocco!) and offers surfing lessons, art workshops and amazing tagines all at an affordable price. I’d recommend staying at the Le Medina hotel – 5-star luxury with a pool and spa for a fraction of the cost of what you’d pay in the UK.

Have a wonderful time, and hope this helps!
Em x
